Paul Morris has specialised in criminal litigation with an emphasis on serious and complex crime since qualifying in 1998.  He joined the team at BCL Burton Copeland in 2003 having gained considerable experience in heavyweight crime at a West End firm.
 
Paul joined the partnership at BCL in 2006.
 
Paul has broad and extensive experience in complex and serious crime, defending a range of offences including fraud and business crime, murder, sexual offences, drug trafficking and various degrees of assault. Paul also advises post-conviction/sentence on potential grounds and merits of appeal. He also provides advice and assistance to witnesses who have been asked to provide a statement or have received a request to attend court to give evidence.
 
Many of Paul’s cases are high profile and his client base regularly consists of professionals, such as medical practitioners, lawyers, bankers and accountants.  Paul also advises in investigations instigated by the various professional and regulatory bodies such as the General Medical Council and the MHRA (the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency).
 
Paul has acted for well-known public figures and his practice is increasingly focused on advising television production companies, presenters and journalists in the growing field of investigative journalism. He also provides pre-production advice and has been involved in advising in a number of recent high profile matters. 
 
Paul is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, the London Criminal Court Solicitors’ Association and the Health and Safety Lawyers’ Association.
