Linda Barnes
Linda specialises in business crime, regulatory enforcement and serious crime.
Linda joined BCL in 2009, having been admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in August 2000. She has extensive experience as an advocate and a litigator and has prosecuted and defended a wide range of criminal offences, including fraud, corporate manslaughter, health and safety breaches, murder, offences of violence, sexual assaults and drug offences.
Linda qualified as a teacher before attending the University of Technology in Sydney where she read an LLB (Hons). She then worked as a criminal defence lawyer in Sydney and, between 2004 and 2007, worked as a prosecutor for WorkCover New South Wales, the government body responsible for managing workplace safety. At WorkCover, she prosecuted breaches of health and safety law, particularly those arising out of fatal accidents in the workplace, and was also involved in numerous coronial inquests. From 2007, Linda was a prosecutor for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, regularly appearing in court on behalf of the Crown on a range of criminal prosecutions.
Linda is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyers' Association and the Young Fraud Lawyers' Association.
