Michael Drury and Julian Hayes of BCL have authored the England and Wales chapter of Cybersecurity – Getting the Deal Through, published in February 2017.

Adopting a Q&A format, the chapter summarises the main cyber legislation in England & Wales, explains its impact on businesses operating in the jurisdiction and examines the UK Government’s measures to enhance the UK’s cybersecurity. The chapter includes a section entitled Update and Trends which examines the five events likely to dominate the field of cybersecurity during the coming year, including the introduction of the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, preparations for the forthcoming implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Network and Information Security Directive and the impact of Brexit.
