Harry Travers chairs panel discussion at international conference: DPAs and the assessment of corporate credit

The inaugural international conference of the Fraud Lawyers Association (“FLA”) and European Fraud & Compliance Lawyers took place in Central London on Friday 17 June 2016, with keynote speaker, David Green CB QC, Director of the SFO.

The conference, co-organised by Julian Hayes of BCL, hosted almost 200 speakers and delegates from 13 different countries. It featured panel sessions on the assessment of credit for corporate co-operation, US investigations in Europe, the interplay between criminal and connected civil proceedings, and the use and abuse of data for tax and fraud investigations.

BCL partner Harry Travers and other leading practitioners from the US and UK (including former US prosecutors) made up the panel on the assessment of corporate credit which discussed internal investigations, first witness accounts and privilege, and the lessons which the SFO might draw from the far longer US experience of DPAs – further session details may be found here.

Harry is a partner at BCL specialising in the defence of bribery and corruption, fraud and tax offences. Julian is an associate at BCL specialising fraud and business crime. Harry and Julian are both committee members of the FLA.
