BCL Solicitors LLP are pleased to be voted a leading firm in The Times Best Law firms 2020 list, in the category of ‘Best for financial crime & fraud & regulatory’

The Times’ profile on BCL Solicitors:

BCL Solicitors, founded in 1991, is a niche firm specialising in financial crime, fraud and regulation. A core part of its work involves representing individuals involved in investigations and prosecutions brought by the Serious Fraud Office.

It represented John Scouler, a former Tesco executive who was acquitted of fraud and false accounting in December. Its clients also include Sudhir and Bhanu Choudhrie, who were questioned in 2014 as part of the SFO’s investigation into alleged corruption at Rolls-Royce, but released without charge.

The firm successfully resisted an attempt to bring a private prosecution against Boris Johnson for misconduct in a public office when he was the mayor of London and is representing Charlie Elphicke, the Conservative MP for Dover and Deal, who has denied three counts of sexual assault against two women.

It defended Sir Mark Allen, MI6’s former counterterrorism chief, during an investigation into whether British officials were party to the mistreatment of Libyans during the regime of Colonel Gaddafi. In 2016 the director of public prosecutions decided not to take action against Sir Mark, who has always denied wrongdoing.

The firm is representing a Premier League football club in an HMRC investigation into alleged complicity by several clubs in tax fraud linked to player transfer deals.
